Title: Shadow at My Back

Summary: Teaser for a potential future fic. Leon investigates a castle in the middle of nowhere with ties to Umbrella and Bio-Weapons research. It goes about as well as you’d expect. Also Wesker is there for some reason.
Notes: These two are my favorite and it both delights and saddens me that they’ve never interacted in canon.

 

 

Wrought iron. Intricately carved black stone. The castle Leon was supposed to be investigating was straight out of a gothic horror novel. Complete with his very own monster because of course that’s his luck. It’s an arrangement of convenience, it’s always easier to travel in pairs

“You’re sure this isn’t your castle?” Leon says suspiciously as he eyes his companion. The other man had refused to give Leon his name, introducing himself simply as W. The slicked back hair, sunglasses even in complete darkness and the attitude were enough of a hint, but Leon’s not about to look a gift horse in the mouth.

The look W gave him could peel paint. Something thumps in the distance and they both ready their guns. The door opens, hinges squealing in protest. Leon takes aim and freezes when he sees a small girl of about 8 or 9 peeking around the door shyly. He hesitates just long enough to give her time to attack, eyes whirling red as she reaches towards him with huge, threatening claws.

W puts a bullet right between her eyes as Leon dodges, almost braining himself on the wall behind him.

“Thanks,” Leon says, breathless as W regards him disdain.

“Didn’t Raccoon City teach you anything,” W says acidly.

“No,” Leon says flatly. “That’s why I keep getting caught in outbreaks.”

W exhales and Leon takes it as his win.
