Title: Mirrored Part 1
Fandom: [Dot]Hack//G.U & Persona 4/5 Fusion.
Rating: SFW
Pairing: None (may change)
Warnings: None atm. Will change.
Summary: [Dot]hack//G.U retold as if it were a Persona game instead.
Notes: This is actually [personal profile] scythesxroses's idea, almost all of it. They asked me to write it out, so I did :D. It's all them, I just translated it into a 'proper' story. (Oh shit, this is going to be multiple parts)

Original text for posterity's sake:

but it went along the lines of .hack and persona. how different/similar would it be for Haseo/Ryou to summon Skeith for the first time from the depths of his soul? the whole "I am thou, and thou art I~" thing. ...and then my brain also went into Endrance/Haseo land all "Haseo basically summons Alraune, but because of him/his soul being so 'special' and all, he ends up summoning a rare male version instead, and it's Endrance/Kaoru lol"

-----

It's raining again, Haseo notes bitterly, closing the curtains and stalking away from the window with a disgruntled look on his face. In the morning, the fog will come and more people will fall unconscious (like Shino). The authorities will make hemming and hawing noises, pretending to care that something bigger is going on but in the end nothing will be done and more people will be hurt.

Haseo throws himself into his desk chair with a huff, crossing his arms and glaring at the wall. Of course, it wasn't like he could do anything either. Only sit here and wait for clues. He kicks the desk out of frustration, wishing desperately that he could do something, anything that would help.

Static comes out of the darkness, light filling the dark room as the tv flicks on. Haseo nearly jumps out of his skin as he turns to face it, eyes wide with shock. A girl in dressed in white appears on the screen, beckoning.

"What the hell?" Haseo demands, standing up and stalking over to the tv. He glares at it and pushes the button, trying to turn it off. The girl remains on the screen and a quiet giggle echoes through the room. The girl raises a delicate white hand and beckons to him, placing it on the glass.

With a small amount of hesitation (and pressing the off button at least five more times just to be sure), Haseo raises his hand and mimics her, placing his hand on hers. Another giggle and lightning flashes, blinding Haseo as her hand melts through the screen and wraps around his.

"If it's you," a girl's voice says quietly in his ear, lips brushing against his skin. "I know you can find me." Haseo doesn't even have time to blink as the hand in his yanks back, trying to pull him into the tv. Only the flailing of his other arm saves him when he catches hold of something solid to keep him from falling in.

Another giggle and the girl is gone, leaving Haseo standing there alone in a dark room, arm halfway through the tv. He pulls it out, still a little in shock as he stares at the now off tv. Before he can even form the words, his head starts splitting.

He drops to his knees, cursing up a storm as a voice in head starts talking: I am thou and thou art I, I am thy persona, thy true self. Remember my name. As the voice stops talking, the pain fades away.

Haseo breathes, one hand (the hand) raising to rub at his chest. There's a heaviness in his chest that wasn't there before. However, there's simultaneously a lightness, a feeling of relief that wasn't there before.

"Skeith?" he asks the empty room quietly, feeling a bit silly.

"I'm here," the voice in his mind says, warm and adoring as a ghostly form clad in white appears before him. It looks like him, but not. A palette swap, to use a gaming term. His hair is as red as his eyes as they stare at each other.

"Let's end this," Skeith says dramatically, pointing towards the tv like a stab to the kidneys. Haseo rubs the back of his neck, glancing between Skeith and the tv. He can't help but notice that Skeith's grin is very much more pointier than his will ever be and there's a strange light in his eyes that reminds him of serial killers and bloodlust.

This is too much too soon, but...

If this could somehow help. If he could save even one person (never mind that at the moment he just doesn't know how), this is worth it. He squares his shoulders, meeting Skeith's gaze head-on. He won't hide from himself any longer.

"We're going," he says, turning back to the tv. Skeith nods, fading back into that place inside him and together they fall through the screen.
